KeyASIC BERHAD STARTS TRADING ON MAINBOARD ON 8 APRIL 2009
(Petaling Jaya, 6 April 2009) KeyASIC Berhad (Stock Code: 0143) has been approved by Security Commission and Bursa to move from Mesdaq to Mainboard and will start its trading on April 8, 2009, Wednesday. The Company was listed in Mesdaq in late January 2008 at an IPO price of RM0.40. Though the Company has met the quantitative requirement to move to the Mainboard some months ago, a company is required to remain in Mesdaq for at least a year before moving to Mainboard.
The Company is the largest fabless IC design company in Malaysia and ASEAN countries, and it is the third public listed company in turnkey ASIC design business. It focuses on designing chips in consumer and communication applications. Most of the chips are related to handheld devices such as cell phone and MP3/4, PC peripherals and networking. Currently, majority of their customers are in the US and Taiwan. Many of its chips are used in many Japanese branded Audio Video products, name brand cell phones, PC and labtops. Started off with 0.18u and 0.13u technology, the Company has expanded its business into 90nm and 65nm technologies in 2008.
The Company has charted its plan to grow through merger and acquisitions (M&A) in additional to its organic growth. With the migration to Mainboard, the Company can now be invested by many foreign major institution investors and more significant funds are accessible should additional funding is required for M&A growth.
